Neymar’s football journey continues to be plagued by persistent injuries. The Brazilian superstar joined Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal from PSG in 2023, but he has spent most of his time on the sidelines over the past year.

Al-Hilal invested heavily in securing the former FC Barcelona forward, paying a significant transfer fee. However, Neymar’s recurring injury issues have kept him out of action, leading to reports that the Saudi Arabian club might consider terminating his contract to mitigate their financial losses.

According to Foot Mercato, Neymar earned a staggering £84.6 million (€101 million) in wages last year alone. PSG originally acquired the Brazilian for a record-breaking £200 million transfer fee in 2017, but his market value has since diminished due to frequent injuries.

Currently, Neymar earns approximately £130 million per season, making him one of the highest-paid athletes globally. Despite rumors linking him to Inter Miami—where he could potentially reunite with Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba—manager Javier Mascherano dismissed the speculation. Speaking to Sportstar, Mascherano stated, “We cannot talk about Ney because we have nothing. Ney is a great player, and every coach in the world would want him, but given the MLS salary cap rules, it’s impossible for us to consider him at the moment.”

With the January transfer window now open, Neymar could still part ways with Al-Hilal if a mutual agreement is reached. A return to his former club Santos in Brazil has been suggested, but the move would require Neymar to accept a significant salary reduction.
