Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has been banned from driving for 56 days and fined over £1,000 after being caught speeding twice within three days. The 31-year-old was clocked driving his £200,000 Range Rover at 85mph in a 50mph zone near Manchester Airport on March 5, 2023. Just two days later, he was caught speeding again.
Maguire admitted to being the driver during the incidents but missed the opportunity to attend a speed awareness course due to being abroad. The court fined him £666, with an additional £120 in costs and a £266 surcharge. Bolton Magistrates’ Court considered his circumstances, including his inability to attend the course, in their decision.
His solicitor represented Maguire and did not attend the hearing in person. This season has been challenging for Maguire, who has played 17 matches and scored one goal. Despite rumors about his future, Manchester United has activated an option to extend his contract until 2025.
