Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei is on the verge of a permanent transfer back to Italy, with Torino reportedly securing his agreement. The 21-year-old joined Chelsea from Inter Milan in 2022 for £12.6m and gained recognition as the player of the tournament at the Under-20 World Cup for Italy.
Despite stints at Reading and Leicester, Casadei has only made six appearances for Chelsea this season, primarily in the Europa Conference League and Carabao Cup. Speculation about his future has grown, with Gianluca Di Marzio reporting that the deal with Torino is being finalized, estimated at £10m, and includes a buy-back clause. Casadei attracted interest from Napoli, Lazio, and Monza but preferred returning to Italy.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who worked with Casadei at Leicester, praised his development as a holding midfielder this season, noting his physicality and improving ball skills. However, limited opportunities at Stamford Bridge appear to have prompted the move.
