Manchester United’s new manager, Ruben Amorim, has already made a significant impact at Old Trafford. His first match in charge saw United secure a thrilling 3-2 victory over Norwegian champions Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League. The win was not just a testament to the team’s performance but also a reflection of Amorim’s leadership and vision.

Amorim’s journey to Manchester United has been nothing short of remarkable. Known for his impressive tenure at Sporting CP, where he led the team to multiple titles, Amorim was seen as the right man to bring back the glory days to United. His appointment was met with great anticipation, and his first press conference only heightened expectations.

In his post-match press conference, Amorim expressed his gratitude and excitement. “The first thing is that half of the stadium doesn’t really know me. I came from Portugal – I did nothing for this club yet. So the way they make me feel at home, it’s so special, you know, it’s not after something, it’s before something. This is something special. And I will keep this to the end of my career. It’s a special moment in my career, I hope it will be one of the many games here.”

The match itself was a rollercoaster of emotions. United took an early lead through Alejandro Garnacho’s goal just 49 seconds into the game. However, Bodo/Glimt fought back with two quick goals, putting United on the back foot. It was Rasmus Hojlund’s double either side of the break that ultimately sealed the victory for United.

Amorim’s tactical acumen was on full display as he navigated the team through the highs and lows of the match. “We knew that Bodo was a strong team. Very good on transitions. They have quality players, good connections, a very good team. But I think we had the first goal, like the last game and then we suffered two goals in transitions. We controlled the game, we controlled the tempo of the game. Just the last 10 minutes was tough for us. We had opportunities to kill the game and then in the end we suffer a little bit, but I think we deserved the win.”

The reception from the fans was another highlight for Amorim. “The way they make me feel at home, it’s so special, you know, it’s not after something, it’s before something. This is something special. And I will keep this to the end of my career. It’s a special moment in my career, I hope it will be one of the many”
