Eduardo Camavinga adds to Real Madrid’s injury woes following loss to Liverpool

Eduardo Camavinga has been ruled out for two to three weeks due to a muscular injury in his left leg, sustained during Real Madrid's Champions League loss to Liverpool.

The French midfielder was substituted in the 56th minute of the match, with Dani Ceballos coming on in his place, as Carlo Ancelotti’s side struggled against their Premier League opponents. After undergoing tests on Thursday, it was confirmed that the 22-year-old had sustained a muscular injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg.

An official statement from the club read: “Following the tests conducted today on Eduardo Camavinga by the club’s Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the femoral biceps of his left leg. His condition will be monitored.”

This injury will sideline Camavinga for approximately two to three weeks, meaning he will miss three important La Liga matches against Getafe, Athletic Club, and Girona, as well as a crucial Champions League tie with Atalanta on December 10. However, the former Rennes player is hopeful of making a return in time for Real Madrid’s league match against Rayo Vallecano on December 14.

This is not the first time Camavinga has faced injury setbacks this season. Earlier, he was sidelined for 12 matches for both club and country due to a left knee injury he sustained during training before Madrid’s UEFA Super Cup victory over Atalanta in August.

Real Madrid’s injury list is currently extensive, with several key players missing during a crucial phase of the season. Defenders Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal are recovering from ACL injuries, while David Alaba is still working to regain full fitness after his own ACL setback. Camavinga’s midfield partner, Aurelien Tchouameni, is also out due to an ankle injury, leaving Ancelotti with limited options in central midfield. Additionally, Brazilian wingers Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo are both dealing with hamstring injuries. Madrid faces a demanding schedule with seven matches over the next three weeks, starting with a La Liga clash against Getafe on Sunday before the winter break.
