The young winger sustained a “severe contusion” during the club’s midweek Champions League match against Crvena Zvezda. After the match, manager Hansi Flick voiced concerns about Yamal’s condition and expressed hope that he wouldn’t feature for Spain in their upcoming Nations League fixtures.
On Monday, Barcelona provided an update, confirming that Yamal would be out for two to three weeks due to a grade 1 sprain in his right ankle. Additionally, the club announced that star forward Robert Lewandowski had also suffered a lower back injury during the same Real Sociedad match and would join Yamal in the treatment room.
Through their official X (formerly Twitter) account, Barcelona shared, “Tests this morning confirmed that Lamine Yamal has a grade 1 high right ankle sprain. He is expected to be out for two to three weeks.”
The club further confirmed Lewandowski’s injury, stating, “Robert Lewandowski has suffered a lower back injury. He will be out for approximately 10 days.”
While Lewandowski is expected to recover in time for Barcelona’s next La Liga match against Celta Vigo after the international break, Yamal’s return is uncertain, with the winger likely sidelined until at least December.
