Arteta reacts on their 1-0 defeat against Newcastle in Premier League: “All credit to them”

Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta faced the media after his team’s 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday, November 2, 2024. The Gunners were unable to break down the resilient Newcastle defense, and Alexander Isak’s early header from an Anthony Gordon cross sealed the victory for the Magpies.

Arteta, while disappointed, gave credit to Newcastle for their performance. “All credit to them,” Arteta said. “They scored a great goal with a good ball. Then the game changes, and you start to play a different game. You have to adapt, and we didn’t do that well enough.”

The Spaniard admitted that his side didn’t deserve to win the match. “We deserved to lose today. I thought we started really well and were really dominant. We didn’t defend the box well enough. Credit to them. They scored a great goal with a good ball.”

Arteta also highlighted the need for his team to show a reaction in their upcoming matches. “We have to show it on the pitch on Wednesday night. You have to be at your best every time to give yourself a chance to win.”

The defeat leaves Arsenal without a win in their last three Premier League games, and Arteta knows that his team needs to improve quickly. “We can say whatever we want. We will struggle to find the words today. We have to show it on the pitch on Wednesday night.”

Despite the setback, Arteta remains optimistic about his team’s chances in the title race. “It’s about how we react. We know we’re not going to find the right answers or words right now to describe how we feel. We certainly have to put it onto the field on Wednesday night against Inter.”

Arsenal will look to bounce back in their next match against Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, November 6, before facing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next weekend.

Arteta’s reaction shows his commitment to his team and his belief in their ability to overcome challenges. Only time will tell if Arsenal can turn things around and make a strong push for the Premier League title.
