Valon Behrami suggests that the expectations placed on Juventus might be overly ambitious, given the team’s lack of experience. He also believes that Thiago Motta has ‘delegitimized’ two key players, referring to them as ‘champions.’
Juventus faced a 2-2 draw against struggling Serie A side Parma on Wednesday, leaving the Bianconeri in fourth place, seven points behind league leaders Napoli.
Motta opted to bench Kenan Yildiz for the second consecutive game, a move that Behrami anticipated as an ex-Serie A midfielder.
Speaking to DAZN, the former Napoli star said, “Honestly, I expected it. There’s a micro-management approach for each player. This can work with a young team because these players need guidance to reach their full potential.
“However, if you want to achieve significant success, you need champions,” Behrami added. “Motta has two or three champions, but he’s undermined both of them. Douglas Luiz is currently unfit and hasn’t contributed much this season. Then there’s Danilo, who is also out of shape. He faces scrutiny in every match and often appears anxious.
“If this is the chosen strategy, that’s fine. Building a team of young players is a valid approach, but it’s essential to adjust expectations accordingly.”
