Manchester United have also shown long-standing interest in Branthwaite, having had two bids rejected by Everton. Since then, United have invested in Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt, meaning they may have to wait until next summer to pursue him again.
However, that could be too late, as Liverpool are expected to meet Everton’s asking price and the player’s wage demands when the transfer window reopens in early 2025. The Anfield club is seeking a replacement for Virgil van Dijk.
Although Branthwaite’s contract runs until 2027, the 22-year-old is unlikely to extend his stay, which might prompt Everton to cash in on him in the upcoming transfer window.
