Dan Friedkin eyes Maurizio Sarri as Everton’s new manager

Everton's new owner Dan Friedkin is considering Maurizio Sarri as a potential replacement for Sean Dyche, who has had a challenging start to the season. Sarri, known for his successful stints at Chelsea and Napoli, could be the right fit to lead Everton forward.

New Everton owner Dan Friedkin is reportedly targeting former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri as his top managerial choice to replace Sean Dyche. After acquiring a 94.1 percent stake in the club, Friedkin is keen to revitalize Everton, who currently sit 19th in the Premier League with only one point from five matches.

Dyche’s future is under scrutiny following a dismal start to the season, and while ex-England manager Gareth Southgate is also being considered, Sarri stands out as Friedkin’s preferred option. Sarri is known for his possession-based style and had a memorable yet tumultuous tenure at Chelsea, leading them to a Europa League title in 2019.

His previous success at Napoli, where he was celebrated for his attacking football, adds to his credentials. Despite his connections with Lazio, Friedkin believes Sarri could be the catalyst Everton needs to turn their season around. Sarri is currently without a club after leaving Lazio earlier this year, making him a viable candidate for the struggling Premier League side.
