After United suffered a heavy defeat at Old Trafford on Sunday against Arne Slot’s team, many Red Devils fans called for the club to “immediately” fire manager Ten Hag. During the loss, minority owner Ratcliffe, who has been criticized for retaining the former Ajax manager, was spotted with his head in his hands—a moment that quickly spread across social media.

Although it’s still early in the season, Ten Hag will be under increasing pressure to secure wins quickly if he hopes to keep his job. The Red Devils invested around £180 million ($236 million) on transfers this summer, and the club’s hierarchy recently decided not to sack the Dutchman, weighing his FA Cup victory against last season’s eighth-place finish. However, if United doesn’t find themselves near the top of the table soon, Ratcliffe might be forced to take action.

Many of United’s players will now leave for international duty over the next two weeks, returning to Premier League action with an away game against struggling Southampton on September 14.
