Chelsea is experiencing another transfer surge, leaving them with over 40 players on their roster. As the transfer window nears its end, the Blues are keen to offload several players, including high-profile names like Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell.

To manage this situation, Chelsea has formed a so-called ‘bomb squad’—a group of players who are no longer part of the club’s future plans and are training separately at Cobham. Alongside Sterling and Chilwell, this group includes Trevoh Chalobah, Armando Broja, Kepa Arrizabalaga, David Datro Fofana, Angelo, Lucas Bergstrom, Deivid Washington, Tino Anjorin, Alex Matos, and Harvey Vale.

Enzo Maresca has been forthright about the situation concerning Sterling and the other players training apart from the main squad.

“We’ll see what happens,” Maresca said to reporters. “I prefer to be honest with Raheem and everyone else. The players who are not involved are those who won’t see any action if they stay. We’ll find out who remains and who leaves once the window closes. The players who will get minutes are those I believe can contribute.”

When asked whether Sterling would play if he didn’t secure a move, Maresca reiterated, “It’s not just Raheem. All players currently training separately will not get minutes once the transfer window closes. I’ve been clear and honest with them about this.”

As Chelsea scrambles to complete their transfer dealings, the future of several players remains up in the air. Maresca’s straightforward comments have clarified the club’s position on players like Sterling, and with the transfer window closing soon, it’s uncertain whether these players will find new clubs or face a season on the sidelines at Stamford Bridge.
