Harry Kane’s ‘british wit’ impresses Manuel Neuer, who calls him a ‘very dangerous’ striker

In the summer of 2023, Harry Kane made a pivotal career decision by leaving Tottenham Hotspur, where he had spent nearly 20 years, to join Bayern Munich. His move was motivated by a desire to win major trophies, something that had eluded him during his time in England. Kane’s debut season with Bayern was a personal success, as he scored 36 goals and claimed the Golden Boot as Europe’s top scorer.

Kane’s impact extended beyond his goal-scoring abilities, positively influencing the Bayern Munich dressing room with his personality. In an interview with Bundesliga.com, Manuel Neuer remarked: “He is very open and communicative, and he has the classic British sense of humour just like Eric Dier, which I like a lot. He is a very good team player and captain, and he does our team a lot of good.”

When asked about Kane’s adaptation to Bayern’s playing style for the upcoming season, Neuer emphasized the importance of short passes into the box: “It’s important for Harry and for our game that the passes into the box are very short. If we win the ball high up the pitch or are in possession around the box, it’s important that we get him into the game because he proved last year that he is very dangerous in front of goal. He can score with every part of his body: he is good with his head and with both feet and he has a great shot on him. He is an out-and-out striker and we can always rely on him.”

However, despite Kane’s individual achievements, the season ended on a disappointing note for Bayern, as the club failed to secure any trophies, marking their first season without silverware since 2012.

As Bayern Munich begins a new season, expectations for Kane remain high. His goal-scoring prowess will be crucial in their pursuit of trophies. The team has started strong, with a 4-0 victory over Ulm in the DFB-Pokal, where Kane contributed to the scoreline. Bayern’s next test is their Bundesliga opener against Wolfsburg, where they hope to maintain their early momentum.
