Dyche candidly discussed Everton’s financial limitations following their crushing 4-0 loss to Tottenham on Saturday, which came just a week after their 3-0 home defeat against Brighton to start the new season.

Last season, Everton were penalized with points deductions twice due to breaches of the Premier League’s Profit & Sustainability Rules. The club’s ownership situation remains unresolved, and despite selling players worth £71 million ($94 million)—including Amadou Onana to Aston Villa for £50 million ($66 million)—no adequate replacements have been brought in. The new signings lack significant Premier League experience.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Dyche said, “Until I’m told different, there isn’t any finance to go and change things. This is what we are. We changed the storyline last season, then in the summer we sell big players. You’re trying to build a squad and the challenge starts again. It’s a never-ending challenge at Everton Football Club.”

“We finished strongly last season. We sell a player [Onana] who’s growing and maturing and become a very important player. And then we bring in others who we’ve got to start the process with again and make them grow and mature and become important players. It’s a cycle that keeps going and going and going.”

Although John Textor has been granted exclusive rights to negotiate a takeover, Everton fans remain cautiously optimistic after failed attempts by 777 Partners and Friedkin Group. However, the completion of the buyout hinges on Textor selling his 45 percent stake in Crystal Palace, which means a quick resolution is unlikely. As a result, Everton remains trapped in their financial difficulties, forcing Dyche to work with the existing squad to keep the club afloat. Next on their schedule is a home match against Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup second round on Tuesday night, followed by a Premier League clash with Bournemouth on August 31.
