It didn’t take long at all. Just seconds after the kickoff, Luis Suarez opened the scoring, netting a goal just 30 seconds in, marking the fastest goal in Inter Miami’s brief history. From that moment, Inter Miami never looked back.

But Suarez wasn’t finished. He doubled the lead in the sixth minute, securing a brace before the crowd had time to settle in. This marked Suarez’s 18th goal of the season.

However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing for Miami. A red card just before halftime added some tension. Center-back Tomas Aviles was sent off with a second yellow in the 42nd minute, forcing the Herons to endure a nervy second half.

Despite the disadvantage, Miami held their ground, arguably outplaying their opponents and securing a 2-0 victory.

With his 18 goals this season, Suarez has now surpassed Gonzalo Higuain’s previous record of 16 goals, set during the 2022 MLS season, for the most goals in a single season at Inter Miami.

This win strengthens Inter Miami’s grip on the Eastern Conference. The Herons now lead FC Cincinnati by eight points and are 13 points ahead of the Columbus Crew, who still have three games in hand. Up next, Inter Miami will visit the Chicago Fire on August 31.
