Multiple sources are now confirming that Chelsea has accepted Napoli’s offer for striker Romelu Lukaku, ending months of negotiations between the two clubs.
Reports on the structure of the add-ons vary. Transfer experts Matteo Moretto and Fabrizio Romano suggest Napoli will pay Chelsea €30 million plus up to €15 million in add-ons for Lukaku, who previously played for Roma and Inter. Conversely, Gianluca Di Marzio and Sky Sport Italia state that the deal is set at €30 million with a 30% sell-on clause but without any additional bonuses.
The agreement was reached after Napoli’s sporting director, Giovanni Manna, met with Chelsea officials twice this week. On Friday, Napoli showed their willingness to increase their offer beyond the initial €30 million.
Chelsea was also offered a share of any future sell-on fee instead of bonuses, but it seems they have now accepted a substantial add-ons package.
Lukaku had already settled on personal terms with Napoli several weeks ago. He is expected to sign a three-year contract at the Stadio Maradona, which will keep him with the club until the summer of 2027.
This move will mark Lukaku’s third Serie A club, following his Scudetto win with Inter under Antonio Conte. After his €113 million transfer to Chelsea in 2021, he had a loan spell back at San Siro and spent last season on loan with Roma, where he scored 21 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions.
