Gareth Southgate has taken on a new position with UEFA just weeks after stepping down as England manager. Southgate resigned after eight years as England’s head coach following a narrow 2-1 defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.

He has now accepted a role as a technical observer for UEFA, where he will analyze matches and report on emerging trends to improve coaching education. This position, which former managers like David Moyes and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have held, will keep Southgate occupied until the end of the 2024-25 season. His decision to take on this role suggests that he is not planning a return to club management in the immediate future.

Meanwhile, the FA is yet to appoint a permanent successor, with Lee Carsley stepping in as interim coach. Potential candidates for the role include Eddie Howe, Graham Potter, and even a suggestion for Pep Guardiola from former England player Teddy Sheringham.
