Aston Villa have initiated talks with Chelsea regarding a potential move for winger Raheem Sterling, who is looking for a way out of Stamford Bridge. Sterling, 29, has been informed he is no longer part of Chelsea’s plans and has been training away from the first team.
While several clubs have expressed interest, Villa’s talks are in the early stages. Sterling prefers to remain in the Premier League, but his £300,000-a-week wages pose a significant obstacle. A wage reduction is expected if a deal is to be reached. Chelsea are exploring options and will present them to Sterling.
Though Chelsea paid £50 million for him, they likely won’t demand a similar fee given his current status at the club. The Blues are also attempting to offload Romelu Lukaku before the transfer window closes, with Napoli emerging as a possible destination for the Belgian striker.
