Chelsea fans were left in disbelief after young Spanish striker Marc Guiu missed a shocking open goal during his first start for the Blues. The 18-year-old, signed from Barcelona for £5 million this summer, started in Chelsea’s Europa Conference League play-off against Swiss side Servette.

After a poor first half, Christopher Nkunku put Chelsea ahead with a penalty just five minutes into the second half. Guiu then had the chance to double their lead after pouncing on a mistake from Servette goalkeeper Jeremy Frick. However, he failed to capitalize on the golden opportunity, allowing the keeper to rush back and prevent his weak shot from crossing the line.

Guiu’s second attempt was also unsuccessful as he misconnected with the rebound. Fans took to social media with mixed reactions, joking that this might be his last start for the club. Despite the blunder, Guiu is expected to continue fighting for his place under manager Enzo Maresca this season amid rumors of a loan move.
