Mikel Arteta is reportedly close to signing a new long-term contract with Arsenal, committing his future to the club he has transformed into a Premier League title challenger. Since taking charge in 2019, Arteta has brought the Gunners to the forefront of English football, with the team emerging as the main rival to Manchester City’s dominance.

Last season, they narrowly missed out on the title by just two points. The 42-year-old’s current contract expires in 2025, but discussions for an extension are said to be progressing smoothly, with no formal urgency. Arteta’s strong relationship with sporting director Edu and the ownership has made negotiations a natural process.

Despite being linked with a potential move to Barcelona earlier this year, Arteta remains focused on his long-term vision for Arsenal. Under his management, the club has won 141 of 232 matches and secured the FA Cup in 2020 and two Community Shields.
