Reports from Italy suggest that Arsenal are back in contention for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and are willing to offer €100m for the player, who is also a target for Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
When Osimhen signed a lucrative new contract with Napoli in December 2023, it was agreed that he would be sold this summer. However, no club has yet met his €130m release clause, leaving Napoli in limbo and unable to invest in new players until a sale is completed.
Paris Saint-Germain came closest to meeting the clause, and Chelsea was considering a deal separate from their negotiations over Romelu Lukaku.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Arsenal is now ready to make a move with an offer approaching the new €100m plus bonuses asking price.
Osimhen was the top scorer in Serie A during Napoli’s 2023 Scudetto-winning season, netting 26 goals in 32 games and adding five goals in six Champions League matches. Last season, he was hampered by injuries and missed two months due to Nigeria’s run to the Africa Cup of Nations Final, scoring 15 goals in 25 Serie A appearances and two in six Champions League games.
While Osimhen has shown reluctance to join Chelsea due to their lack of Champions League football, Arsenal would meet all his and Napoli’s requirements.
