Sao Paulo police have now concluded their investigation and decided not to press charges against Antony. They determined there was insufficient evidence to prove any misconduct by the player. The case will now be reviewed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Brazilian Justice Department. Meanwhile, Greater Manchester Police are still investigating similar allegations against Antony and have yet to reach a decision. Antony has consistently denied all allegations.
Following the investigation’s conclusion, Cavallin’s lawyer, Daniel Bialski, commented: “There is clear evidence proving Gabriela’s victimization, both in Brazil and England, from physical and psychological abuse. We anticipate the Public Prosecutor’s Office will file formal charges against Antony, seeking prosecution and conviction for his violent actions against women.”
Antony’s defense team, including Mauricio de Carvalho Araujo and Elaine Angel, responded: “We have always been confident that the investigation would clear Antony of wrongdoing.”
Antony took a leave from Manchester United after the allegations surfaced and has discussed the personal toll it took on him last season. Although he was rumored to be transferring away from the club this summer, he remains with Erik ten Hag’s team for the 2024-25 Premier League season.
