Neal Maupay, regarded as one of the Premier League’s most controversial players, is reportedly on the verge of a move to Marseille. The 28-year-old French striker, known for his on-pitch antics, spent last season on loan at Brentford from Everton but returned to the Toffees this season.

However, he was only named as a substitute in Everton’s opening-day defeat to Brighton. French outlet L’Equipe reports that Marseille is keen to bring Maupay back to Ligue 1, likely in a loan deal. The transfer window is closing soon, and Marseille is seeking to strengthen their attacking options after an injury to Faris Moumbagna.

If the deal goes through, Maupay would join fellow Premier League imports Mason Greenwood, who scored twice on his debut after a £30 million move from Manchester United, and Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, who also joined Marseille on loan this summer.
