Mohamed Salah has made Premier League history after breaking the record for the most goals scored on opening day. In Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Ipswich at Portman Road, the 32-year-old forward scored his ninth opening-day goal, surpassing legends Wayne Rooney, Alan Shearer, and Frank Lampard, who had previously shared the record.

This milestone came as Salah celebrated his 350th appearance for Liverpool. In addition to his goal, Salah also provided an assist for Diogo Jota’s opening strike in the match. Salah’s goal marked his 212th for Liverpool since joining the club in 2017. Over the years, Salah has consistently been a threat on the first weekend of the season, scoring in eight out of nine season openers, including strikes against teams like West Ham, Norwich, Leeds, and Fulham. The only exception was last season against Chelsea, where he still contributed with an assist in a 1-1 draw.

Liverpool fans were quick to praise Salah on social media, with many hailing him as the “Premier League GOAT.” This match also marked the beginning of a new era for Liverpool under new manager Arne Slot, who replaced Jurgen Klopp for the new campaign. Slot’s Premier League debut was a success, with his side securing a comfortable victory in their opening match.
