Ibrahimovic states Milan’s ongoing interest in Kone despite recent Fofana transfer

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed that Milan remains interested in French midfielder Manu Kone of Borussia Mönchengladbach, despite the recent addition of Youssouf Fofana to the squad and the announcement that the Rossoneri’s roster is now ‘complete’ for the summer.

Speaking at Fofana’s official unveiling after his €25 million transfer from Monaco, Ibrahimovic acknowledged that securing Kone might be more challenging now that Fofana has joined, as both players operate in similar midfield roles.

However, Ibrahimovic emphasized that Milan is focused on assembling a squad capable of competing in both Serie A and the Champions League, which he believes requires players with international experience. He also noted that the club’s ambitions could lead to varying outcomes in their quest to reclaim a top spot in European football.

Regarding Kone and the new signing Fofana, Ibrahimovic commented, “Kone is a player we are keeping an eye on. He has shown significant growth and we need to evaluate our options. His inclusion in the Olympics is noteworthy, but with Fofana’s arrival, it does narrow our options a bit since they play similar roles.”

Ibrahimovic added that Milan’s goal is to be competitive both in Italy and in Europe, with a slight emphasis on the latter. “We aim to be at the top in Europe. We have significant players with international experience. The Champions League is unpredictable; anything can happen, or nothing at all.”
