Chelsea has yet to accept Napoli’s offer for Romelu Lukaku, prompting Napoli to shift their focus towards securing David Neres from Benfica for €28 million.
Earlier today, it was suggested that Napoli might delay their pursuit of Neres until after Victor Osimhen’s sale if it meant acquiring Lukaku immediately. However, Chelsea continues to deliberate over Napoli’s offer of €25 million plus an additional €5 million in bonuses.
Although Chelsea has reduced their initial asking price from around €45 million, it’s unclear if the revised offer will be sufficient, especially without Osimhen as part of the deal.
Given the situation, Sky Sport Italia and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano report that Napoli, frustrated by the delay, will proceed with the Neres transfer. The Brazilian winger is expected to undergo a medical as early as Monday, having been omitted from Benfica’s squad for this weekend’s match due to the imminent transfer.
While Napoli still has interest in Lukaku, Antonio Conte will have to wait longer for a potential reunion.
