According to journalist David Lynch, Liverpool have already initiated discussions with Wolves regarding a potential transfer for Algeria international Rayan Ait-Nouri, as the club seeks to bolster their left-back options to challenge Andy Robertson.

The Merseyside team is still on the lookout for their first signing under new manager Arne Slot. While they came close to acquiring Martin Zubimendi, negotiations with the Real Sociedad midfielder fell through when he was informed that he would need to activate his own release clause.

Although Liverpool remains intent on adding a central midfielder, their primary focus seems to have shifted towards strengthening their defense, particularly with Ait-Nouri. The 23-year-old, who has two years remaining on his contract, was a key player for Wolves last season, scoring twice in 33 Premier League appearances.

With two weeks left in the transfer window, Liverpool still has time to secure their first summer signing, but Slot will have to rely on his current squad as he begins his tenure against Ipswich on Saturday.
