Ipswich Town and Fulham have expressed interest in securing a loan deal for Manchester City’s England midfielder, Kalvin Phillips. Despite featuring regularly during pre-season, including stints at center-back during the club’s tour of the USA, Phillips is aware that his opportunities will be limited with the return of 13 players who featured in the Euros.

The 28-year-old has struggled to find form and fitness since his £45 million move from Leeds United in 2022, and a loan move appears to be his best chance for regular playing time. Everton’s Sean Dyche, a long-time admirer of Phillips, is also monitoring his situation. Although Phillips’ pre-season performances have put him in the shop window, Manchester City is cautious about securing a permanent move for him.

Other clubs, including West Ham, Roma, RB Leipzig, and Galatasaray, have also shown interest, with Galatasaray recently joining the race after having a bid for Manchester United’s Scott McTominay rejected. Meanwhile, Ipswich is closing in on signing Blackburn striker Sammie Szmodics, further strengthening their squad for the upcoming season.\
