On Friday, 16-year-old Martinez received devastating news when it was confirmed he had torn his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during a non-contact incident in training. As reported by Fabrizio Romano, the Spanish teenager will require surgery and is expected to be out for approximately six months.

Martinez had already made a significant impression on Real Madrid’s coach Carlo Ancelotti. He joined the first team for their pre-season tour in the United States, participating in friendly matches against AC Milan and Barcelona. He was training with the senior squad when he sustained the ACL injury, marking a tough setback for a player who was anticipated to contribute to the first team for the 2024-25 season.

The Spain Under-17 international will be sidelined until 2025, but with proper rehabilitation, there’s hope he will make a return in the latter part of the season.
