Bild reports that Manchester City have been monitoring Kingsley Coman for a while, and now might be the time they make a move. They are considering a loan deal with an option to buy, but Bayern Munich’s priority is to offload Coman’s €20 million (£17.1m/$21.8m) salary. Currently, there are no formal negotiations, and it remains unclear how much of Coman’s wages City would be willing to take on.
City are facing the potential departure of Julian Alvarez, which would be a significant loss for the squad since the Argentine forward often served as the first backup for Erling Haaland or Kevin De Bruyne. Although Coman isn’t a direct replacement, he is a proven talent at the top level and could be a timely target. With substantial spending already done this summer, Bayern Munich have made it clear that they need to offload players before bringing in new ones.
Bayern’s honorary president, Uli Hoeness, commented on the situation: “The supervisory board has decided that after spending €125m (£107m/$136.5m), any new signings must be preceded by player sales. This is the board’s collective decision, not just my own.”
Coman isn’t the only Bayern player linked with an exit to reduce wage expenses. Defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui are also rumored to be on Manchester United’s radar, which could free up funds and space for Bayern to target Jonathan Tah.
