West Ham closing in on Wan-Bissaka signing

As the deal for OGC Nice’s center-back Jean-Clair Todibo nears completion, West Ham is reportedly shifting its focus to signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka, according to Fabrizio Romano. The club could finalize the transfer for the Manchester United right-back “in the next days” if everything goes as planned. This would allow Manchester United to move forward with securing Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich.

Manchester United fans might see Mazraoui, who previously played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax, as an upgrade over Wan-Bissaka, given the latter’s inconsistent performances, limited attacking contributions, and injury issues in recent seasons. Meanwhile, West Ham urgently needs a new right-back after parting ways with Ben Johnson and selling Thilo Kehrer this summer. Earlier this week, the Hammers were linked with England veteran Kieran Trippier, as Vladimir Coufal remains their only specialist in the position.

By offloading players like Mason Greenwood, Donny van de Beek, Willy Kambwala, and Alvaro Fernandez this summer, United has raised just over £50 million ($64m) in transfer fees, including add-ons. Their incoming transfers, including Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro, have amounted to around £95 million ($121m), also including add-ons.

If the transfers progress as quickly as anticipated, Wan-Bissaka could potentially be part of West Ham’s squad for their Premier League opener against Aston Villa on August 17. Similarly, Mazraoui might be involved when United hosts Fulham next Friday.
