Leny Yoro made the move from Lille to Manchester United earlier this summer for a transfer fee of £52 million ($66 million), as the Red Devils aimed to inject youth into their squad for the 2024/25 season. Unfortunately, the 19-year-old French defender sustained an injury during a friendly match against Arsenal and has since undergone ankle surgery. Despite the setback, Yoro has shared an optimistic update on Instagram as he starts his rehabilitation.
In his Instagram message, Yoro expressed: “This isn’t the beginning I hoped for, but that’s the nature of football. The surgery went well. I appreciate all your supportive messages. Now, it’s time for patience and rehabilitation.”
“See you soon, stronger!”
Following a disappointing Premier League season marked by a record number of goals conceded, Manchester United decided a defensive overhaul was necessary. As part of this, they released Raphael Varane and Willy Kambwala and brought in Yoro. The club is also considering selling Aaron Wan-Bissaka and acquiring Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt.
Yoro is expected to be sidelined for around three months, but he remains hopeful for a swift return to action as he embarks on his recovery.
