Sky Sport Italia reports that Alexis Sanchez has opted for an unexpected return to Udinese following the expiration of his contract with Inter.

At 35 years old and currently a free agent, Sanchez had been rumoured to move to Ligue 1 with either Olympique Marseille or LOSC Lille this summer. However, transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio confirms that Sanchez has chosen to go back to Udinese.

Sanchez has always held Udinese close to his heart. He first joined the club in Italy in 2007, later moving to Barcelona for €26 million in the summer of 2011. His career then saw him through Arsenal and Manchester United before returning to Italy with Inter in 2019.

During his time with Udinese, Sanchez made 112 competitive appearances, scoring 21 goals and providing 20 assists. Last season, he demonstrated his continuing value at Inter, where he scored four goals and assisted five others, while also participating in the Copa America.
