Last month, United signed Leny Yoro from Lille for £52 million ($68 million). Unfortunately, just under two weeks after joining, he sustained a foot injury during a pre-season game against Arsenal. The club has now confirmed that Yoro’s surgery was successful, and he is expected to return in “around three months.”

Yoro was a high-profile acquisition for United, especially as they secured his signature over Real Madrid. His injury is a significant setback for the team and could impact their challenging pre-season. This situation has underscored the need for additional defensive reinforcements, with United reportedly pursuing Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

Standing at 6ft 3in, Yoro had a standout season with Lille last year, featuring in 44 matches and scoring three goals. The France Under-21 international will be eager to make a strong impact at Old Trafford upon his return from injury.

United will next face Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley on Saturday, followed by their Premier League opener against Fulham at home on August 16.
