Instead, Williams is focused on continuing his career in La Liga, which means he will either stay with Athletic or join Barcelona for the upcoming season. He hopes to resolve his future before starting pre-season training with Ernesto Valverde.
In a recent media briefing, Valverde addressed the speculation about Williams, stating, “We know Nico is a talented player, but we have to wait and see how things unfold. There’s a lot of speculation in the press, but we should focus on the actual developments.”
La Liga is set to begin later this month, with Athletic Club’s first match against Getafe on August 15. The Basque club hopes that Williams will make his decision before then.
