Newcastle United has reportedly initiated negotiations with Crystal Palace to secure defender Marc Guehi. The 24-year-old, who was a standout for England during their Euro 2024 campaign, has turned down a contract extension at Selhurst Park, with his current deal expiring in 2026.
According to The Athletic, Newcastle is the first club to formally approach Palace for Guehi, who has also attracted interest from Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester United. Guehi made 25 Premier League appearances last season and played a key role in England’s journey to the Euros final, missing only the quarter-final win over Switzerland due to suspension. Palace has already lost Michael Olise to Bayern Munich for £50 million and faces the potential departure of Eberechi Eze, who has a £60 million release clause and is being eyed by Manchester City and Tottenham.
Newcastle has strengthened their defense this summer by signing Lloyd Kelly, goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos, and making Lewis Hall’s loan move from Chelsea permanent. Meanwhile, Palace has added Daichi Kamada, Chadi Riad, and Ismaila Sarr to their squad.
