Despite speculation linking Jonathan Tah with a move to Bayern Munich and his apparent reluctance to extend his contract at Bayer Leverkusen, Xabi Alonso remains optimistic about retaining him. The Germany international has made over 350 appearances for Leverkusen, with his current contract set to expire next summer.
Alonso is currently planning for the season with Tah in mind, but Leverkusen is also considering a potential move for free agent Mats Hummels if Tah decides to leave. Alonso acknowledges that the situation is fluid and could change.
Alonso told reporters: “I’m planning with Jonathan because he’s crucial for us both on and off the pitch. That’s my current plan. However, I’m aware of the situation and open to changes. He’s highly focused and a top professional. I have no complaints.”
