Ederson is reportedly interested in leaving Manchester City this summer, with potential links to a Saudi Pro League transfer. At 30 years old, he might struggle to maintain his position as the No.1 goalkeeper ahead of Stefan Ortega next season. Although Guardiola expressed his desire for Ederson to stay, stating he would “love” for him to remain at the club, the Brazilian’s future could lie elsewhere.

Guardiola has reiterated his hope for Ederson to stay but said he would understand if he chooses to leave. Speaking to TNT Sports, Guardiola said: “I’d like Éderson to decide his future as soon as possible. I only hope for him to stay with us. He’s a person I love, who I want. He’s a ‘porterazo’ (great goalkeeper). If he has to go… with all the pain in the heart, I’ll understand.”

Since joining from Benfica in 2017, Ederson has made 332 appearances for City, contributing to multiple Premier League titles, FA Cups, Carabao Cups, as well as victories in the Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup. However, his performance has seen more errors recently, suggesting it might be best for both him and the club to part ways this summer.

Ederson’s Manchester City will continue their pre-season campaign against Chelsea on August 3, followed by the Community Shield match against Manchester United at Wembley seven days later. They kick off the new Premier League season on August 18 away to Chelsea.
