Raphael Varane has secured a new club following his departure from Manchester United. The French defender, who left Old Trafford at the end of June after his contract expired, has signed a two-year deal with newly promoted Serie A side Como, with an option for a third year.

Varane, who made 95 appearances for the Red Devils and scored once, struggled with injuries during his three-year stint in England, missing 48 matches in total. Varane could make his debut for Como on Monday in a friendly against Al-Hilal in Austria. He joins former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who ended his playing career at Como in 2023 and has since transitioned into a managerial role. Fabregas, now the head coach, guided Como to promotion last season.

Como, featuring in the top flight for the first time in 21 years, boasts other former Premier League stars such as Pepe Reina, Alberto Moreno, and Patrick Cutrone. Additionally, Thierry Henry holds a minority ownership stake in the club after investing in 2022.
