Artem Dovbyk is reportedly on the brink of joining Roma after agreeing to personal terms with the Giallorossi and refusing to engage with Diego Simeone, who had been pushing for a move to Atletico Madrid.
According to reports from Italy, Ukraine international Dovbyk is set to join Roma after reaching personal terms with the Serie A club.
Saturday’s printed edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, on page 32, claims that the recent La Liga Pichichi winner has agreed to a four-year deal worth €3 million per season plus add-ons.
Dovbyk agrees to personal terms with Roma, snubbing Atletico and Simeone.
Meanwhile, the Giallorossi have reportedly submitted a €32 million bid plus €5 million in add-ons to Girona. This offer is close to Dovbyk’s €40 million release clause, and according to Gazzetta, Roma is confident of finalizing the deal within 48 hours.
Gazzetta and Corsport report that Dovbyk refused to speak with Atletico Madrid coach Simeone on Friday when the Argentine coach attempted a final push to convince the striker.
Atletico, in fact, have reached an agreement with Girona but have not secured a deal with the player’s representatives.
Dovbyk’s agent, Oleksiy Lundovsky, confirmed that Atletico Madrid’s offer for his client was inadequate. “Atletico are a great club, but we didn’t see a serious project for Artem, and their economic offer is significantly inferior to those from other clubs interested in La Liga’s top scorer,” he told Ukrfootball.
