David de Gea, the former Manchester United goalkeeper, is reportedly open to joining Genoa on a free transfer, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The 33-year-old Spanish keeper has been without a club since his departure from Manchester United last July, leaving him sidelined for an entire season. He was succeeded by Andre Onana, formerly of Inter, in the starting role.

With Genoa seeking a new goalkeeper following the sale of Josep Martinez to Inter, the club is exploring options to ensure coach Alberto Gilardino has the right support for his second Serie A season.

Di Marzio reveals that De Gea is receptive to the idea of signing with Genoa, as he believes in their project. The decision now rests with Genoa on whether to proceed with the former Manchester United star.

During his 12-year tenure with the Red Devils, from 2011 to 2023, De Gea made 545 appearances and recorded 190 clean sheets.
