Reports indicate that Roma have approached Artem Dovbyk’s representatives after Villarreal turned down their bid for Alexander Sorloth.
In search of a new striker following Romelu Lukaku’s move back to Chelsea, Roma had targeted Youssef En-Nesyri, but he has since signed with Fenerbahce under former coach José Mourinho.
La Gazzetta dello Sport notes that while Roma have considered making an offer for Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta, their primary focus remains on La Liga players.
Roma’s previous €30 million offer for Sorloth was rejected by Villarreal, who are holding out for his €38 million release clause.
Roma have now reached out to Dovbyk’s agents, with the club’s directors expected to speak with them today. Daniele De Rossi has already been in touch with the Ukrainian forward. Although Dovbyk has a €40 million release clause and Girona have an agreement with Atletico Madrid, his representatives have not yet finalized terms with the Spanish side, leaving Roma hopeful they might still secure a deal.
