The youngster’s career has been plagued by injuries since his debut at Camp Nou at age 16 in 2019. A meniscus tear in 2020 sidelined him for nearly a year, necessitating surgery and rehabilitation. Subsequent hamstring and muscle injuries further hindered Ansu’s progress, prompting Barcelona to loan him to Brighton last summer.

While at Brighton, another hamstring injury kept Ansu out for three months, limiting his Premier League potential. He played just over 1,000 minutes during his loan stint. Ansu returned to pre-season with determination to impress new manager Hansi Flick, but a foot injury once again disrupted his progress.

Barcelona’s official statement on Ansu’s latest injury read: “In Tuesday’s training session, first team player Ansu Fati injured the sole of his right foot. He will follow a conservative treatment plan in Barcelona, and his return to training will be decided by his recovery.”

Although Ansu has expressed his desire to remain and succeed with Barcelona, the club has informed him he is not in Flick’s plans. Barcelona is open to selling him this summer, attracting interest from several clubs, including Fenerbahce, where manager Jose Mourinho is considering a move for the forward.

Ansu’s latest injury leaves him in a precarious position. If the injury is serious, he could be in limbo until the January transfer window. His journey has been a series of highs and lows, and this injury marks another significant setback in his efforts to meet the expectations of wearing Barcelona’s iconic No. 10 jersey.
