The Portuguese forward, Joao Felix, who has spent the past one-and-a-half seasons on loan at Chelsea and Barcelona, might make a return to the Premier League this summer, with Aston Villa emerging as unexpected contenders to sign him, according to The Guardian.

Felix’s future remains uncertain following the end of his loan spell at Barcelona after the 2023-24 season. Although Felix wishes to stay at Camp Nou, Barcelona has shifted their focus to other targets, specifically Nico Williams and Dani Olmo. Marca reported earlier this year that the Catalan club is unable to secure a permanent deal for Felix due to financial constraints.

Aston Villa are looking to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season, as they gear up for their Champions League campaign. The club recently received a significant financial boost from the sale of Moussa Diaby to Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League for a hefty transfer fee of €60m (£50.5m).

Unai Emery’s team is currently in the US for pre-season training and is set to play a friendly match against MLS side Columbus Crew on Sunday. The club has been active in the transfer market, recently announcing the signing of Amadou Onana from Everton for £50m.
