Newcastle United are reportedly ready to pursue Mauricio Pochettino if current manager Eddie Howe accepts the England managerial position. Howe, 46, faces a tough decision between continuing with Newcastle or taking his dream job with the national team. According to The Mirror, Newcastle executives are keen on a swift resolution, with Pochettino as their top target.

New sporting director Paul Mitchell, who previously worked with Pochettino at Southampton and Tottenham, could facilitate the move. Howe has expressed his long-held ambition to manage England, acknowledging his admiration for current England manager Gareth Southgate in an upcoming book.

Despite these aspirations, Howe recently emphasized his commitment to Newcastle, stating his love for the club, its supporters, and his current role. Newcastle struggled with injuries last season and missed out on European competition due to Financial Fair Play constraints. With the new PSR window open, the club’s Saudi owners are expected to back whoever is in charge.
