Aston Villa winger Moussa Diaby is set to earn £400,000 a week in Saudi Arabia, as he nears a £60 million move to Al-Ittihad. The transfer will see Diaby, 25, join fellow Frenchmen N’Golo Kante and Karim Benzema.
Villa will make a £17 million profit on Diaby, who was signed for a club record £43 million from Bayer Leverkusen last summer, following a transfer battle with Al-Nassr. Last season, Diaby scored ten goals and provided nine assists across all competitions. Although Unai Emery did not plan to sell the 11-cap star, the club could not reject the substantial offer.
Villa have re-signed Jaden Philogene, 22, from Hull for £12.6 million and are targeting Atletico Madrid exile Joao Felix to bolster their attack. Felix, once valued at £101 million, has had loan spells at Chelsea and Barcelona after falling out with Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone.
Additionally, Everton’s Amadou Onana completed a medical, with Villa paying a £50 million fee for the Belgian international. This brings Villa’s summer spending to £136.6 million on seven signings. Diaby’s £60 million exit will mean the club has raised £130.75 million in sales.
