Jurgen Locadia has joined his fifth club in two years, signing with Spanish third-tier side CF Intercity. The Dutch striker, 30, joined Brighton & Hove Albion in 2018 from PSV for up to £15 million but struggled in the Premier League, scoring only six goals in 46 appearances. Following multiple loans to Hoffenheim and FC Cincinnati, he left Brighton in January 2022 for VfL Bochum in the Bundesliga.
Since then, Locadia has played for Persian side Persepolis, Chinese outfit Cangzhou Mighty Lions, and SD Amorebieta in Spain. Now, he has joined Intercity, a club that gained attention in January 2023 after pushing Barcelona to extra time in the Copa del Rey, with Oriol Soldevila scoring a second-half hat-trick. Intercity was formed in 2017 and became the first Spanish team listed on the stock market.
Locadia will join his new teammates on Monday and be available to manager Alejandro Sandroni. Meanwhile, Brighton has also seen former wonderkid Kacper Kozlowski depart for Turkish side Gaziantep FK. The 20-year-old midfielder was once the youngest player to appear at the Euros, a record now held by Lamine Yamal.
