United are actively seeking a defensive midfielder due to the potential departure of Casemiro. They have reportedly agreed on personal terms with PSG’s 23-year-old Manuel Ugarte, who shares an agent with recent signing Leny Yoro, Jorge Mendes. However, if the Ugarte deal doesn’t materialize, Spain’s Martin Zubimendi could serve as an alternative, according to The Telegraph.

Under the new minority ownership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, United seem determined to make significant moves in the transfer market. With the acquisitions of Yoro and striker Joshua Zirkzee already secured, landing either Ugarte or the 25-year-old Zubimendi would be a major achievement for Erik ten Hag’s squad.

Zubimendi, who is contracted with Sociedad until 2027, reportedly declined an opportunity to join Arsenal earlier this summer. His value has likely risen after his role in Spain’s Euros victory. Additionally, United are also contemplating a move for free agent Adrien Rabiot, whose contract with Juventus has expired.

United fans are keenly anticipating the outcome of the Ugarte negotiations, as PSG and the Premier League club are still to agree on a fee for the Uruguay international. Bayern Munich is also said to be interested in the midfielder, who has a contract with PSG until 2028.
