West Ham eyeing N’Golo Kante for sensational Premier League comeback

N'Golo Kante, known for his tenacity, could be set for a Premier League return with West Ham. After a successful stint at Leicester City and Chelsea, Kante moved to Al-Ittihad last year, where he made 46 appearances.

The French midfielder, celebrated for his relentless energy and impressive work rate, previously secured league titles with both Leicester City and Chelsea before moving to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad last year. Since his transfer to the Middle East, Kante has been a key player, making 46 appearances across all competitions last season.

Sky Sports reports that West Ham is considering a move to bring Kante back to the Premier League. However, the transfer is expected to cost around £20 million ($26 million) due to his contract with Al-Ittihad, which runs until 2026. Additionally, Kante’s high wages could present a challenge for the club.

Kante’s final season at Chelsea in 2022/23 was marred by injuries, limiting him to just seven Premier League games. Nevertheless, he has regained his fitness and form since joining Al-Ittihad, earning a spot in France’s squad for Euro 2024. He played a crucial role, starting all six of France’s matches before their semi-final exit.

West Ham, under head coach Julen Lopetegui, is looking to enhance their squad with budget-friendly options. Alongside their interest in Kante, they are also tracking several other players, including Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson, and Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo. The club has already invested approximately £60 million ($78 million) on new signings, including Wolves defender Max Kilman and Brazilian forward Luis Guilherme.
