Real Madrid renewed Luka Modric’s contract on Wednesday, ensuring the Croatia midfielder will remain with the club for his 13th season. Modric, a key figure in Real Madrid’s midfield, has extended his contract until June 2025, as confirmed by the club.

Despite fewer starts this season, Modric, one of Madrid’s captains, is anticipated to play a more prominent role under Carlo Ancelotti following Toni Kroos’ retirement. His tenure at Real Madrid since joining in 2012 has seen him capture a record 26 titles, including six Champions League trophies and four Spanish league titles, tying him with defender Nacho Fernández for the most titles in club history.

“Modric arrived at Real Madrid in 2012, and in his 12 seasons with us, he has become a legend both at Real Madrid and in world football,” stated Madrid.

In 2018, Modric’s stellar performances also earned him the Ballon d’Or, FIFA Player of the Year Award, and UEFA Player of the Year accolades, highlighting his pivotal role in Croatia’s journey to the World Cup final. He holds the record for most international caps for Croatia with 178 appearances and has made 534 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring 39 goals during his tenure.
